Schools launch mobile app

  • Stirling Technologies, a full-service web marketing firm, recently designed, developed and launched a mobile application for Danvers Public Schools.

The cross-platform mobile application offers easy access to school-related resources for parents, students, faculty, and other members of the community.

Prominent features of the app include one-click event subscription, up to the minute push notifications for emergency alerts and updates, social media integration, a searchable staff directory, school and district news, lunch menu payments, and direct access to grades and other information.

It also offers access to Danvers' Tip411 program, an anonymous text-based tipline implemented in collaboration with the Danvers Police Department.

After working with Stirling for a new website redesign in 2012, Danvers Superintendent of Schools Lisa Dana said, "moving our district's communication plan forward included better access through smartphones. Stirling worked cooperatively with us to develop a mobile app that meets our needs. This resource will provide our community especially parents with on the go, updated information about our schools."

When asked about working with Danvers, Thomas Stirling said, "It is refreshing to work with a district that embraces and places technology at the forefront. Dr. Dana is forward thinking and responsive to change. With the growth of mobile usage, I think we will see more districts following Danvers footsteps with cross platform iOS and Android based solutions that improve access for staff, parents and students."

The iOS and Android application is available and free to download in both the AppStore and Google Play.

Stirling Technologies, located in Winchester, specializes in web design and development services for businesses and nonprofits of any size.
