Company agrees to stop marketing, selling to Iowans

A Nevada-based Internet training company will refund Iowans money and agrees to stop selling to Iowans.

The agreement was reached between the company and Attorney General Tom Miller.

Authorities said Brookwater Ventures LLC violated Iowa's Consumer Fraud Act.

An investigation was launched after a Des Moines woman reported the company convinced her to sign a $3,500 contract for an online Internet marketing training program.  The woman reported the company charged her credit card $1,750 and arranged for financing for the remaining total.

The woman said she was unable to earn any income utilizing the company's online sales techniques.

The company will issue refunds to Iowa customers. Five Iowans paid the company more than $32,000, the company reported.
